We already have a scan gun with our DMS, why would we need ScanApp?

Traditional scan gun functionality provided by most DMSs will only tell you that a part has been received. The functionality does not reconcile the receipt to your outstanding Parts Orders (POs) or to the shipment data from GM. ScanApp uses all three data sources (POs, Shipment and Receipt) to provide you with an industry first: fully reconciled received information.

What are the benefits of ScanApp?

ScanApp processes and reconciles received parts in a fraction of the time it takes to manually perform the same task. Further, the receiving function can be done by virtually anyone with very little training or experience needed. In addition, ScanApp significantly increases accuracy from the current manual process and provides receipt data to interested parties before the workday even begins. Finally, ScanApp captures all of your receipt data electronically. The data can be accessed at any time, months, weeks or even years in the past.

How does ScanApp save me so much time?

ScanApp uses our proprietary technology to automate the traditional manual paper ‘tick ‘n bops’ required with the traditional manual receiving and reconciling process. You will no longer need to manually scan a stack of hundreds of papers looking for a part number to check mark. At Jim Tubman Chevrolet the time saved was staggering and a welcome relief to the Parts Team.

What DMSs does ScanApp work with?

All DMSs. ScanApp is DMS agnostic and can retrieve POs from any DMS via a formatted CSV file export. Once you sign up for ScanApp we will work with your DMS provider to set up the export that will then be imported into ScanApp daily for order processing.

How does ScanApp get my shipment data from GM?

GM has a tool available to all dealerships that will export to ScanApp. Once you sign up for ScanApp we will walk you through the setup process or we will do it on your behalf. Once setup all GM shipment data will be loaded daily into ScanApp automatically.

What scanner does ScanApp use?

ScanApp is programed to use a proprietary Zebra Touch Scanner. Once you sign up for ScanApp we will ship you the scanner at no additional charge. The scanner will connect to your Wi-Fi network and will access ScanApp via your Wi-Fi connection. No additional computer is needed for the scanning functions.

How do I access ScanApp data after scanning?

Once scanning is complete users will access the ScanApp data via the web for review and reconciliation of data and then export of the Power Report.

How does the scanning / receiving process work with ScanApp?

Once parts are dropped off by the shipping company the shipping labels are scanned and transmitted to the ScanApp servers. ScanApp will cross reference POs and GM Shipped data and flag the data according to the following statuses: 1. Recived As Ordered; part and quantity received as ordered 2. Short shipped; quantity shipped less than requested 3. Over shipped; quantity shipped is more than requested 4. Received w/o Order; Part received was not ordered but was shipped by GM 5. Received w/o Order/Ship; Part received was not ordered or listed as shipped by GM Once the scanning function is complete the Parts Clerk has the opportunity to review all scanned items and adjust as required. Once the review is complete the Clerk will verify the data in ScanApp. The Parts Analyst then has the opportunity to review the verified data and mark the parts accordingly in your DMS system. At any time, any user can export the Power Report for the current day or any period of 1 to 31 days. The Power Report groups scanned and reconciled date by PO order number and can be emailed to any interested parties such as Parts Salespeople interested in knowing the status of parts on order.
